Demand for rental properties has surged threefold since the onset of the COVID pandemic, according to new research released recently.
Nearly three-quarters of the almost 800 landlords surveyed reported an increase in tenant demand during the third quarter of this year, marking a record high. This represents a 65% increase compared to the same period last year and stands in stark contrast to the 22% of landlords who reported rising tenant demand during the third quarter of 2019, before the implementation of government lockdown measures.
The survey, conducted by the research consultancy BVA-BDRC, revealed that demand is particularly robust in the West Midlands, where 76% of landlords noted increased tenant interest. This is closely followed by 75% in Wales and 74% in the South East (excluding London).
